Make-Up: not made up
Ever so often, I walk into a mall across some city and get a scare or two from coming face to face with a woman with just too much make up – sounds familiar? Here’s a guys take on what I think of such a “my fair lady”
There are moments of anguish and self restraint when I come across this reality where I would like to walk up to these ladies, and tell them its called Make Up i.e its meant to enhance your looks, not the opposite? It appears these ladies seem to have a passionate relationship with their cosmetics where the line between “adequate” and “too much” is blurred.
OK, lets start with the “Foundation”; I guess there’s a reason it is called that. Its absurd that a lot of us seem deeply discouraged to acknowledge and appreciate our skin color, especially “Wheatish” and darker. This is the “Foundation” of our problems especially when most Indian women winning the Ms Universe and Ms World from India were “Wheatish” and darker (ok… Aishwarya Rai was an exception- but I’m sure it wasn’t her skin color that made her win that crown) but seriously, go easy with the layering. From a guy’s perspective, natural, the way you are, is beautiful! So, get a colour that matches your skin tone instead of a shade that ensures you look like you doused yourself in Atta. Next, lets “conceal” everything about who we are. Its called “concealer” not “conceal-her”. Get what I am alluding to. I say no more – I will have to seek protective custody.
Now the other thing, as a guy, that’s really appreciated is going easy on the amount you are coating on those lips. Here’s a tip – If you kiss your guy and he has red lipstick all over his lips and is busy rubbing it off for a whole minute… you need to go easy girl.
I’m not saying these things to rile up all you women, but just giving a couple of things from a guys perspective to make sure they aren’t happening to you, For a guy, you will appear more attractive and confident.
So here’s my take ladies, by all means, do wear some make up should you like – it looks nice, but take the patience to find one that matches your skin tone, time of the day, occasion and dress. Wear a bit, conceal a bit, highlight your strengths and most importantly smile with an open heart… nothing compares to that
